EU antitrust regulators have permitted Turkish dwelling equipment maker Arçelik’s proposed acquisition of Whirlpool’s European home home equipment business, a European Commission submitting confirmed Tuesday.
The European Commission introduced that the acquisition of sole management over the family equipment operations of the U.S. firm Whirlpool in Europe, the Middle East and Africa by Arçelik A.Ş. has been permitted inside the framework of EU firm merger rules.
“The commission concluded that the transaction would not raise competition concerns given in particular the presence of alternative suppliers in the European Economic Area (EEA) countries where both parties are active,” the European Commission stated in an announcement.
Under the deal introduced in January, the businesses will arrange a brand new entity made up of Arçelik’s European items producing main and small home home equipment in addition to client electronics with Whirlpool’s European business.
Arçelik will personal 75% of the corporate and Whirlpool the remaining 25%.
Britain’s antitrust regulator stated on Oct. 11 that it had determined to refer the deal for an in-depth investigation.
