NATO can’t be an ‘a la carte’ navy alliance depending on the whims of the U.S president, the European Union’s overseas coverage chief Josep Borrell stated on Monday, as he responded to feedback made by Donald Trump relating to NATO over the weekend.
Former U.S president Trump had instructed the United States may not defend NATO allies which do not spend sufficient on their very own defence from a possible Russian invasion.
Asked to answer Trump’s feedback, Borrell stated: “NATO cannot be an ‘a la carte’ military alliance… depending on the humour of the president of the U.S.”
