Pakistani President Arif Alvi prolonged congratulations Wednesday to his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, for his election victory.
Calling Aliyev’s presidential election win “decisive,” Alvi mentioned: “Your leadership continues to inspire progress and stability.”
“Pakistan looks forward to strengthening our enduring friendship and cooperation. Best wishes for your continued success!” Alvi wrote in a press release that was posted on X by the Pakistani presidential home.
Azerbaijan held presidential elections Wednesday through which Aliyev obtained greater than 92.1% of the vote, in line with the Central Election Commission.
Aliyev’s closest competitor, impartial candidate Zahid Oruj, obtained 2.2%.
About 6.5 million individuals have been eligible to vote, together with residents primarily based overseas.
The final presidential election, which is held each seven years, was April 11, 2018.
A decree signed by Aliyev late final 12 months moved the vote ahead from an preliminary date in October 2025.
