Secretary of State Blinken headed to Middle East, Europe amid war in Gaza

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will depart Thursday on his fourth journey to the Middle East since Oct. 7, together with two stops in Europe, based on the State Department.

Blinken will go to Türkiye, Greece, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the West Bank and Egypt for conferences with international counterparts to debate a “number of critical issues,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller informed reporters.

He will talk about speedy measures to extend humanitarian help to Gaza, stated Miller, including that Blinken will even talk about Israel’s ongoing army marketing campaign in opposition to Hamas following assaults by the Palestinian resistance group on Oct. 7.

Ongoing efforts to launch the remaining hostages will even be on Blinken’s agenda, Miller stated.

Blinken will even increase the necessity to take steps to discourage Houthis’ assaults on transport within the Red Sea, based on Miller.

In Türkiye, Blinken will talk about regional cooperation, together with remaining steps to finish Türkiye’s ratification of Sweden’s accession to NATO, stated Miller.

In Greece, he’ll deal with assist for Ukraine and safeguarding regional, regional maritime safety, he added.

“We don’t expect every conversation on this trip to be easy. There are obviously tough issues facing the region and difficult choices ahead,” stated Miller. “But the Secretary believes it is the responsibility of the United States of America to lead diplomatic efforts to tackle those challenges head on, and he’s prepared to do that in the days to come.”
