Ukrainian troops for the primary time used the so-called hybrid air protection system, which is made up of parts from Soviet and Western manufacturing, Minister for Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin stated on Wednesday.

Kamyshin advised a press briefing on the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, which was broadcast on-line, that Kyiv deployed 5 such programs and used one in all them on the battlefield late Tuesday evening.

“One of the (air defense) systems was used for the first time tonight. We have about five such projects in this portfolio, and I am very glad that we have already deployed all these systems on the battlefield,” he stated.

Kamyshin famous that the event of such hybrid programs permits the nation to avoid wasting a few years that may in any other case be required to develop its personal air protection programs.

In Oct. 2023, US media reported that American army officers proposed that Ukraine adapt its Soviet-made air protection programs to be used with anti-aircraft missiles manufactured in NATO nations, primarily the US.

The program, which was codenamed “Frankencam,” reequipped Soviet-made Buk launchers to make use of US-made Sea Sparrow missiles, in addition to Soviet radars to information US Sidewinder missiles.

According to Western media stories, different initiatives are underway to mix Western and Soviet programs, akin to adapting Russian and Soviet launcher missiles for US Patriot air protection programs.
