A 71-year-old Ukrainian man died in Russia in December awaiting trial for espionage and different crimes, human rights organisation Memorial mentioned on Sunday, citing court docket paperwork.

Several Ukrainian residents have been accused of espionage by Russia following the beginning of what the Kremlin calls a particular army operation nearly two years in the past.
