The United Nations Security Council renewed the mandate of the monitoring mission for the Golan Heights, established to watch the 1974 cease-fire between Syria and Israel.
The unanimously adopted decision urges all events to completely cooperate with the operations of the mission, to respect its privileges and immunities and to make sure its freedom of motion, in addition to the safety of and unhindered and quick entry for U.N. personnel finishing up the mandate.
The U.N. Disengagement Observer Force has been stationed within the Golan Heights, a jagged plateau in southwestern Syria to observe a disengagement accord between Syria and Israel, which adopted the 1967 Arab-Israeli struggle.
Israel occupied two-thirds of the territory throughout preliminary preventing and annexed it in 1981 – a transfer by no means acknowledged by the worldwide neighborhood.
