The Israeli military Saturday vowed a response to the Lebanese Hezbollah group after a missile assault on the Druze city of Majdal Shams within the northern occupied Golan Heights killed 11 individuals, regardless of the latter denying any function within the assault.
“The Majdal Shams incident is the most severe since Oct. 7, 2023, and we will respond to it,” Daniel Hagari, the Israeli military spokesperson, mentioned at a press convention.
Hagari mentioned the victims of the incident had been from the Druze neighborhood, including: “We extend our condolences to the entire Druze community in their difficult time.”
The spokesperson claimed the missile fired by Hezbollah hit a soccer discipline in the midst of Majdal Shams.
“We are conducting a joint assessment of the situation,” continued Hagari.
Earlier within the day, the Israeli authorities mentioned that 11 individuals had been killed and dozens injured within the missile assault.
While the Israeli military accused Hezbollah of the assault, the group denied accountability for it.
Tensions have risen alongside Lebanon’s border with Israel amid cross-border assaults between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv presses forward with its lethal offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed practically 39,300 individuals since final October following a Hamas assault.
