The chief of the Lebanese Druze group has warned of Israeli efforts to “incite strife” within the area after it accused Hezbollah of an assault within the occupied Golan Heights.
A rocket strike focusing on a soccer pitch on Saturday in Majdal Shams, whose inhabitants is predominantly Arabic-speaking Druze, killed 12 younger individuals.
In mild of a Hezbollah assertion denying any involvement within the assault, Lebanese Druze Walid Jumblatt mentioned: “We reiterate our warning and alertness to what the Israeli enemy has long been working on – to incite strife, fragment the region, and target its components.”
“We have previously thwarted this (Israeli) scheme, and now that it has re-emerged, we remain vigilant alongside the resistance and all fighters confronting Israeli aggression and occupation,” he advised Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.
Israeli authorities mentioned earlier that 12 individuals have been killed and 37 others injured within the assault. While the Israeli military accused Hezbollah of the assault, the group denied any involvement.
Tensions have risen alongside Lebanon’s border with Israel amid cross-border assaults between Hezbollah and Israeli forces since Tel Aviv launched its genocidal conflict on Gaza, triggered by the Oct. 7 Hamas incursion.
Israel has up to now killed over 39,300 individuals, principally ladies and youngsters, within the Palestinian territory.
