U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick informed Uzbek Kun news that the U.S. and Uzbekistan had reached an settlement on the standing of fighter jets and army helicopters belonging to the Afghan military that was flown by Afghan pilots from the nation to Uzbekistan in 2021.

Responding to a query on whether or not the planes and helicopters will stay in Uzbekistan, Henick mentioned: “Military automobiles will stay in Uzbekistan. This has already been formalized.”

Henick famous that the Uzbek and U.S. sides proceed to work collectively on this problem, including: “These automobiles by no means belonged to the Afghans, they belonged to the U.S. The Afghan military used it, however we have been all the time the house owners.”

After the Taliban took management of Afghanistan in August 2021, many fighter jets and army helicopters belonging to the Afghan military have been hijacked by Afghan troopers and brought to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan had introduced on Aug. 15, 2021, 22 army plane and 24 helicopters of the Afghan armed forces violated Uzbek airspace and entered the nation.

While the Taliban demanded the return of those plane belonging to Afghanistan, Uzbek officers reported that negotiations with the US aspect on the standing of the army automobiles have been ongoing.
