One civilian was killed and 4 others injured in Russian shelling in a single day on Ukraine’s Sumy area on the border between the 2 warring nations, the native Ukrainian administration stated on Sunday.
“During the night and morning, the Russians carried out 18 shellings of border territories and settlements of the Sumy region. 47 explosions were recorded,” the administration stated on Telegram.
It stated 9 districts of the area had been beneath assault.
Local prosecutors clarified afterward Sunday that Russia had launched a missile assault on a convoy of grain vans on the Sumy-Kharkiv route in Sumy district and a 23-year-old truck driver was killed.
It stated one truck caught fireplace and about 20 others had been broken.
Ukraine’s air power stated in a separate assertion it had destroyed eight out of 11 Russian assault drones used in a single day.
“This time, the occupiers targeted Ukrainian grain and the logistics of the agricultural sector, particularly in Mykolaiv and Sumy regions,” the air power stated, giving no extra particulars.
The Sumy area borders Russia’s Kursk area, the place Ukrainian forces launched a serious cross-border incursion on Aug. 6. Russian troops, in the meantime, proceed to press in the direction of the strategic hub of Pokrovsk in japanese Ukraine.
