Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated on Friday Mexico backs a two-state answer for the continuing Israeli-Palestinian battle.

This is the primary time Mexico’s new chief mentioned the continuing assaults of Israel towards Palestine since being sworn in as president.

“We condemn the aggression being experienced, and we also believe that the Palestinian state must be recognized in all its fullness, just as the state of Israel is recognized. This has been Mexico’s position for many years, and it is the position we maintain,” stated Sheinbaum throughout her morning briefing.

The ongoing battle, which worldwide observers and a number of other nations have labeled as a genocide towards Palestinians, has resulted in additional than 42,000 killed.

Since the start of the escalation of assaults by Israel towards Gaza and the West Bank after the assaults on Oct. 7, 2023, Mexico has held a place of neutrality. At that point, former President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador acknowledged that Mexico would stay impartial and name for peace from either side.

“President Lopez Obrador has always expressed, based on the constitutional principles of foreign policy, that what Mexico seeks is peace and that the United Nations should be much more proactive in pursuing and establishing global peace. We agree with this,” added Sheinbaum.

Mexico’s longstanding neutrality contrasts with the extra assertive stance of different Latin American nations comparable to Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, and Chile, which have denounced the assaults of Israel towards Palestinians and denounced the year-old battle as a genocide.

In addition, Colombia, Brazil, and Bolivia have joined South Africa’s case towards Israel for committing genocide earlier than the International Court of Justice.
