The second part of a polio vaccination marketing campaign started within the war-torn Gaza Strip on Monday, the Health Ministry stated.
The ministry stated the brand new part targets youngsters below 10 in central Gaza.
This part is scheduled to final for 3 days, with the opportunity of extending it for one extra day, the ministry added.
The first part of the marketing campaign concluded on Sept. 12 and included over 560,000 Palestinian youngsters.
“Area-specific humanitarian pauses have been agreed. It’s critical that these pauses are respected by all parties. Without them, it is impossible to vaccinate the children,” UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell stated on X on Thursday.
Russell additionally talked about that UNICEF would offer vitamin A dietary supplements to youngsters to strengthen their immune methods.
“Children in Gaza live in extremely dire hygiene and sanitation conditions,” she stated.
On Wednesday, the UN company for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) stated that round 400,000 persons are trapped in northern Gaza amid an Israeli offensive within the space, jeopardizing the implementation of the second part of the polio vaccination marketing campaign.
