Russian President Vladimir Putin stated Thursday that Türkiye conveyed new proposals from Kyiv for negotiations, because the battle between Russia and Ukraine, which started in February 2022, continues.

“Recently the Turkish side … called straight from New York and said there are new proposals (from Ukraine) that they ask to consider for negotiations,” Putin stated at a press convention following the sixteenth BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia.

Putin stated he had expressed his willingness to interact in talks however claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the thought of negotiations the next day. He added that earlier than transferring ahead with any proposal, Moscow should decide whether or not Ukraine genuinely needs negotiations.

Putin advised that Ukraine’s reluctance to interact in talks stems from the implications of such negotiations, particularly the necessity to elevate martial legislation and maintain a presidential election.
