China is taking a look at a possible choice that includes promoting TikTok‘s operations within the US to tech-billionaire Elon Musk to maintain the app from being successfully banned, Bloomberg News reported Monday.

Chinese officers want that TikTok stays underneath the possession of father or mother ByteDance Ltd., Bloomberg mentioned, citing sources conversant in the matter.

Last week, the US Supreme Court signaled that it’s going to uphold a ban on TikTok by Jan. 19 — a day earlier than President-elect Donald Trump takes the oath of workplace — over nationwide safety considerations about China.

According to Bloomberg, senior Chinese officers had already begun to debate contingency plans for TikTok as a part of an expansive dialogue on the best way to work with Trump’s administration.

Under one situation, Musk’s social media platform X — previously Twitter — would take management of TikTok US and run the companies collectively, in line with the report.

Officials have but to achieve a agency consensus on the best way to proceed, it mentioned.

“It’s not clear how much ByteDance knows about the Chinese government discussions or whether TikTok and Musk have been involved. It’s also unclear whether Musk, TikTok and ByteDance have held any talks about the terms of any possible deal,” the report added.
