The NBA’s Boston Celtics are being bought to the top of a California non-public fairness agency for $6.1 billion, a file worth for a US sports activities franchise, The Boston Globe reported Thursday.

The newspaper, citing a league supply, mentioned the Celtics possession staff had agreed to promote the staff to William Chisholm, managing director and co-founder of Symphony Technology Group.

It mentioned the $6.1 billion buy worth is the best ever paid for a North American sports activities staff, surpassing the $6.05 billion paid for the NFL’s Washington Commanders.

Chisholm, a Massachusetts native, is a longtime fan of the Celtics, the present NBA champions, based on the Globe.

The newspaper mentioned three different patrons had been into consideration — Steve Pagliuca, a Celtics co-owner; Stan Middleman, a co-owner of MLB’s Philadelphia Phillies; and The Friedkin Group.
