Approximately 500,000 Palestinians have been displaced since Israel resumed its assaults in Gaza following the top of the cease-fire, the United Nations stated Wednesday.
“Our humanitarian partners estimate that since March 18, about half a million people have been newly displaced or uprooted once more,” stated Stephanie Tremblay, spokesperson for U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military stated Wednesday that it has designated round 30% of the Gaza Strip as an “operational security perimeter,” barring Palestinian entry to these areas amid expanded floor operations.
In an announcement, the military stated that it had achieved “full operational control” over a number of key areas and corridors throughout the enclave.
Such zones confer with areas from which Palestinians have been forcibly displaced and are actually prohibited from returning. Israeli forces are deployed throughout components of those zones, which have steadily expanded since Israel resumed its offensive on March 18.
The military stated it has widened its management of the “Morag Corridor,” which separates the southern cities of Rafah and Khan Younis, including that three army divisions are at present participating in floor operations within the enclave.
The army warned that “it is prepared to expand the ground operation in accordance with operational developments.”
