Russia claims it took control of 2 settlements in Ukraine’s Donetsk, Kharkiv regions

Russia claimed on Sunday that it took management of two extra settlements in Ukraine’s Donetsk and Kharkiv areas amid Moscow’s ongoing offensive within the war-torn nation.

An announcement by the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that its forces captured the village of Piddubne, situated about 22 kilometers (13.6 miles) north of the strategic city of Velyka Novosilka, within the japanese Donetsk area.

Russia beforehand claimed to have seized Velyka Novosilka on Jan. 27. The city lies close to the junction of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk areas.

Piddubne is located about 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) from the trijunction and about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) from the executive border between the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk areas.
