Syria deployed safety forces to the southern province of Suwayda on Monday after clashes between Bedouin and Druze armed teams left no less than 50 individuals useless, a monitoring group stated.

The newest preventing, which started Sunday, continued sporadically into Monday in a number of villages, stated the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights struggle monitor and the Suwayda 24 news outlet.

The clashes reportedly erupted when a Druze vegetable vendor was seized by armed Bedouins on the primary freeway linking Suwayda to Damascus.

The incident triggered a sequence of retaliatory abductions by each side. Suwayda 24 stated these kidnapped had been launched Sunday evening.

The Observatory raised its loss of life toll Monday to 50, together with 34 Druze – amongst them two youngsters – 10 Bedouins and 6 members of the safety forces. State tv confirmed six deaths among the many safety forces.

The Interior Ministry had put the toll at 30 useless and round 100 wounded.

The ministry expressed deep concern and sorrow over the “bloody developments” that passed off between “local armed groups and tribes” in Suwayda’s al-Maqous neighborhood on late Sunday.

“In this context, the Ministry of Interior confirms that units of its forces, in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, will intervene directly in the region to resolve the conflict, stop clashes, impose security, prosecute those responsible for the events, and refer them to the competent judiciary,” it added.

Dozens extra have been wounded amid armed clashes and mortar fireplace in Suwayda metropolis and close by villages.

Syria’s Defense and Interior ministries introduced the deployment of navy models to the affected areas, the institution of secure corridors for civilians, and a dedication to “end the clashes quickly and decisively”.

“The lack of state, military and security institutions is a major reason for the ongoing tensions in Suwayda,” Interior Minister Anas Khattab stated Sunday on X.

“The only solution is to reactivate these institutions to ensure civil peace,” he added.

The newest unrest follows lethal violence in April and May, when clashes between Druze fighters and safety forces in Druze-populated areas close to Damascus and Suwayda killed greater than 100 individuals.

The Observatory stated members of Bedouin tribes had sided with safety forces throughout earlier confrontations.

Local leaders and non secular figures brokered agreements on the time to de-escalate the tensions, placing Druze fighters answerable for native safety in Suwayda since May, although armed Bedouins stay current in a number of areas.

On Sunday, Suwayda Gov. Mustapha al-Bakur urged his constituents to “exercise self-restraint,” whereas Druze group leaders urged authorities to step in.

In response to the violence, the Education Ministry introduced the postponement of Monday’s scheduled secondary faculty exams within the province.
