French actor Gérard Depardieu, 74, might lose his Legion of Honour medal, France’s highest distinction.
Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated in opposition to the actor, who appeared in lots of movies together with “Cyrano de Bergerac,” Culture Minister Rima Abdul Malak mentioned on the tv channel France 5 on Friday.
A council of the order will meet to resolve whether or not Depardieu needs to be stripped of his honour, she defined. Depardieu was awarded the order in 1996.
On Friday, the minister of tradition described the actor’s feedback within the tv report about his journey to North Korea in 2018, which was broadcast in the beginning of December, as “disgusting.”
In the movie, he repeatedly makes misogynistic and questionable feedback. In a scene displaying him at a stud farm, he mentioned that ladies wish to experience as a result of their clitoris rubs in opposition to the saddle. They are massive sluts, he continued.
As the media reported on Saturday close to Depardieu‘s attorneys, the actor will make his medal out there to the minister of tradition.
In the press launch, the attorneys questioned whether or not the minister was not dealing a further blow to a “dying” presumption of innocence along with her initiative.
Depardieu has already been beneath investigation for allegations of rape since 2020. Since mid-September, one other lawsuit in opposition to him for sexual abuse is claimed to be ongoing. The incident is claimed to have taken place in 2007.
Several ladies have accused the award-winning actor, who has appeared in over 200 movies, of sexual violence. Depardieu utterly denies the allegations.
