The UK has begun imposing a ban on nitrous oxide, often known as “laughing gas,” the Home Office mentioned Wednesday.

The ban, which was introduced by the federal government in September, makes laughing gasoline an unlawful Class C substance as a part of a plan to deal with anti-social conduct.

Possession of laughing gasoline is now unlawful, with repeat critical customers going through as much as two years in jail, whereas these caught producing or promoting it may withstand 14 years in jail.

“Today we are sending a clear signal to people, especially young people, that not only is abuse of nitrous oxide dangerous to their health, but it is also illegal, and those caught possessing it will face consequences,” Crime and Policing Minister Chris Philp mentioned within the assertion.

“For too long, the use of this drug in public spaces has contributed to anti-social behavior which is a blight on communities. We will not accept it,” he added.

It is called the second mostly used drug amongst 16- to 24-year-olds in England after hashish.

Nitrous oxide, an odorless, colorless and sweet-tasting gasoline, could cause a spread of points together with transient dizziness, dissociation, disorientation, lack of stability, impaired reminiscence and cognition, and weak spot within the legs.
