An ongoing polio vaccination marketing campaign has reached 82.5% of focused kids within the war-torn Gaza Strip, the Health Ministry stated on Wednesday.

In a press release, the ministry stated 527,776 kids below the age of 10 obtained the primary dose of the polio vaccine within the Palestinian enclave.

The ministry stated medical groups are persevering with their efforts “to continue the polio vaccination campaign despite the continuing Israeli aggression.”

“Despite the great danger facing medical teams, families continue to come to vaccination centers to vaccinate their children against polio,” the ministry stated.

The third and remaining part of the marketing campaign started in northern Gaza on Tuesday to vaccinate round 14,000 kids in opposition to polio. The first and second phases of the marketing campaign coated central and southern Gaza.

Last month, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres referred to as for a seven-day humanitarian cease-fire to permit the vaccination of 640,000 kids in Gaza.

Israel has continued a brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip since an Oct. 7 Hamas assault regardless of a UN Security Council decision demanding a direct cease-fire.

More than 41,000 individuals, principally girls and kids, have since been killed and almost 95,000 others injured, in response to native well being authorities.

An ongoing blockade of the enclave has led to extreme shortages of meals, clear water and drugs, leaving a lot of the area in ruins.

Israel faces accusations of genocide for its actions in Gaza on the International Court of Justice.
