China’s electrical car (EV) exports to the European Union rose sharply in December, regardless of the bloc elevating tariffs.
Data launched this week by China’s General Administration of Customs confirmed that 32,849 electrical automobiles have been exported from China to EU international locations final month.
Exports elevated by 8.3% in December in comparison with the identical interval of the earlier 12 months, whereas a downward pattern was recorded within the earlier two months.
After the EU raised tariffs, China’s exports decreased by 40% year-on-year in October and 25% in November.
China’s electrical car exports to the EU decreased by 6% in 2024.
The European Commission launched a subsidy investigation into electrical automobiles imported from China in October 2023.
At the top of the probe, the fee determined to impose extra customs duties of as much as 35% on automobiles imported from China.
EU member states accepted the extra duties in a vote on Oct. 4 final 12 months.
