A gaggle of Austrian followers chanted far-right slogans forward of their EURO 2024 match in opposition to Türkiye on Tuesday, native media reported on Wednesday.
Some followers chanted “Germany for the Germans, foreigners out!” on the streets of Leipzig, throughout a broadcast of Swiss nationwide broadcaster SRF, prompting an investigation by the authorities.
A spokesperson of the Leipzig police division instructed German news company DPA that they’re conscious of the incident, there’s an preliminary suspicion of a felony offence, and they’re investigating the matter.
The nationwide groups of Türkiye and Austria confronted one another on the Leipzig Stadium. After a hard-fought 2-1 victory, the Turkish nationwide crew superior to the quarterfinals of EURO 2024.
