Congo skipper Mbemba faces online racism after Morocco AFCON game

After guiding his workforce to a 1-1 draw towards Morocco on the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, Congo captain Chancel Mbemba confronted a barrage of racist abuse on social media.

Mbemba’s Instagram account was focused by many customers who replied to his newest posts with monkey or gorilla emojis or wrote racist feedback.

The 29-year-old Mbemba, who’s Black, performs for the top-tier French membership Marseille.

Mbemba had a heated change with Morocco coach Walid Regragui after the match. It led to a melee between gamers and officers from each groups that continued as they left the sphere and went down the gamers’ tunnel.

Regragui sought Mbemba after the sport when the participant was on his knees giving thanks in a private second. Mbemba took Regragui’s hand and clapped him on the again because it appeared he thought it was a pleasant change.

But Regragui stored maintain of Mbemba’s hand and carried on speaking. The participant angrily pulled his hand away and gestured for the video referee earlier than gamers from each side jumped in.

Mbemba steered to journalists after the sport in San Pedro that Regragui had insulted him.

“I’m keeping my silence; it’s better. Everybody knows me; I respect everyone … but I never thought I’d hear that word from the coach, that it would come from his mouth,” Mbemba mentioned.

There was no instant response from Regragui.
