Elon Musk, CEO of social media platform X, on Monday proposed a small price for brand spanking new customers to put in writing, reply to, or like posts.
In a put up on X, Musk stated such a measure could be unavoidable in an effort to “curb the relentless onslaught of bots” on the web site.
“Current AI (and troll farms) can pass are you a bot with ease,” he added.
Further elaborating on the rising downside of bots and faux accounts spreading misinformation and spam on X, he stated: “The onslaught of fake accounts also uses up the available namespace, so many good handles are taken as a result.”
Musk stated the inconvenience of paying such a price could be outweighed by the profit, saying: “This is only for new users. They will be able to do write actions for free after 3 months.”
No data has but been launched on the timeframe for implementing the coverage or particular charges that new customers could also be required to pay.
In October, X initiated a $1 annual cost for brand spanking new unverified customers in New Zealand and the Philippines to put up and work together with content material in a bid to fight spam and bot exercise.
