Billionaire Elon Musk introduced Tuesday plans to maneuver the headquarters of social media firm X and spacecraft manufacturing agency SpaceX to Texas from California amid a brand new regulation.
His choice is available in response to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, signing new laws Monday that bars college districts in that state from requiring mother and father to be notified of a kid’s gender identification change.
“This is the final straw,” Musk wrote on his private X account. “Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.”
“I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children,” he added.
The X proprietor mentioned its headquarters might be shifting to Austin, Texas.
Last month at Tesla’s annual stockholder assembly held in Austin, Texas, shareholders voted in favor of Musk’s proposal to alter the corporate’s state of incorporation to Texas, the place the electrical carmaker’s largest U.S. manufacturing unit is situated, from Delaware, the place most publicly traded corporations are integrated.
