Instagram is reportedly contemplating launching a separate app for its short-form video characteristic, Reels, its chief Adam Mosseri instructed employees this week, a report from tech-focused The Information mentioned Wednesday, citing an individual who heard the remarks.
The report added that the Meta-owned firm seeks to reap the benefits of TikTok’s unsure standing within the United States by offering the same video-scrolling expertise.
Meta didn’t instantly reply to Reuters’ request for remark.
In January, Meta additionally introduced a brand new video-editing app, Edits, a transfer seemingly geared toward buying a share of the consumer base of CapCut, the same video-editing app owned by TikTok’s mum or dad firm, ByteDance.
