U.S. President Donald Trump urged on Tuesday that he would possible lengthen a deadline once more for China-based ByteDance to divest the U.S. property of standard brief video app TikTok.
The president mentioned in May he would lengthen the June 19 deadline after the app helped him with younger voters within the 2024 election. His feedback to reporters on Air Force One on Tuesday reiterated that sentiment.
“Probably, yeah,” Trump mentioned when requested about extending the deadline. “Probably have to get China approval but I think we’ll get it. I think President Xi will ultimately approve it,” he mentioned, referring to the Chinese chief.
He indicated in an interview final month with NBC that he can be open to pushing again the deadline once more. If it occurs, it might be the third time that the deadline has been prolonged.
