New drug operation arrests 156 suspects in Istanbul, Bursa

In the latest Narkogüç-37 Operation focusing on drug and stimulant substance sellers within the provinces of Istanbul and Bursa, 156 suspects have been apprehended, in accordance with Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

Yerlikaya emphasised their willpower to cleanse the nation of drug traffickers and sellers in a press release on his social media account.

The Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate’s Narcotics Division, with the participation of 624 personnel in a number of Istanbul districts, together with Avcılar, Bahçelievler, Başakşehir, Bayrampaşa, Beyoğlu, Esenyurt, Eyüpsultan, Güngören, Kağıthane, Küçükçekmece, Üsküdar, Ümraniye and Şişli, performed simultaneous operations at 96 addresses. Yerlikaya reported that 92 suspects have been apprehended throughout these operations.

Additionally, in Bursa, the Provincial Security Directorate’s Narcotics Division carried out operations within the metropolis middle to apprehend traffickers engaged in drug or stimulant substance commerce, ensuing within the arrest of 64 people.

Yerlikaya underscored that operations towards drug traffickers all through the nation would proceed to extend, stating: “In both operations, 116,500 ecstasy pills, 44.75 kilograms of bonzai, 10.202 kilograms of methamphetamine, various amounts of skunk, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, seven handguns, an automatic pistol, three rifles, and a substantial amount of foreign currency and Turkish lira were seized.”

Furthermore, Yerlikaya introduced that within the Bursa operation, 58 suspects with finalized jail sentences starting from two to eight years for narcotics offenses had been apprehended.
