Azerbaijan and Armenia revived talks Thursday on border delimitation as peace efforts intensified.

A press release by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry mentioned the fifth assembly of the State Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border between Baku and Yerevan was held on the border between the 2 nations.

It indicated that the assembly occurred beneath the chairmanship of the Azerbaijani and Armenian prime ministers and mentioned the events mentioned “several organizational and procedural matters and proceeded with their discussion on delimitation issues.”

The assertion mentioned each side agreed to begin engaged on talks for a draft regulation on joint actions of the state fee on border delimitation and the fee on the delimitation of the state border and border safety.

Relations between Baku and Yerevan have remained tense since 1991 when the Armenian army occupied Nagorno-Karabakh, a territory internationally acknowledged as a part of Azerbaijan, and 7 adjoining areas.

Most of the territory was liberated by Azerbaijan throughout a struggle within the fall of 2020, which ended after a Russian-brokered peace settlement that additionally opened the door to normalization.
