Asma Assad, the British-born spouse of ousted Syrian regime chief Bashar Assad, has been successfully barred from returning to the UK after her British passport expired, based on native media.

Without a legitimate passport, Asma Assad can’t return to her hometown London, based on the Sunday Times. Moscow confirmed earlier this month that the Assads had fled Damascus and been granted asylum in Russia, although their actual whereabouts are unknown.
