A non-military aircraft ventured into prohibited airspace within the neighborhood of US President Joe Biden’s residence in Delaware on Saturday, a spokesman for the US Secret Service stated.
“Shortly after 2 p.m. (GMT1800) Saturday, a civilian aircraft violated restricted airspace north of Wilmington, Delaware,” stated Anthony Guglielmi on X.
“As a precaution, assets were scrambled to intercept and the civilian aircraft safely landed at a nearby airport,” he added.
A fighter jet and a helicopter had been dispatched to escort it out of the restricted airspace after the unauthorized plane was initially detected.
Guglielmi said that an investigation is at the moment ongoing with collaboration between the US Secret Service and the Federal Aviation Administration.
