Druze mourners protest Israeli ministers at Golan victims’ funeral

The Druze group of Majdal Shams in Israel-occupied Golan Heights protested the presence of Israeli ministers on the funeral for 12 individuals killed in a rocket assault Saturday.

Israel has linked the assault on a soccer area to Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, which denied any duty.

Footage aired by Israeli media confirmed mourners protesting the presence of Israeli ministers, together with far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, on the funeral.

“Get out of here, you criminal. We don’t want you in the Golan,” one protester shouted at Smotrich.

Environment Protection Minister Idit Silman, Economy Minister Nir Barkat and Energy Minister Eli Cohen confronted comparable disapproval.

According to the Israeli each day Yedioth Ahronoth, the Druze Authorities Forum despatched a letter to Israeli authorities ministers requesting them to not attend the funeral.

“Do not come. Given the sensitivity of the situation, we ask not to turn this massacre into a political event. We demand a quiet religious funeral according to Druze customs,” learn the letter.

Fears have grown a couple of full-blown battle between Israel and Hezbollah amid an alternate of cross-border assaults between the 2 sides.

The escalation comes in opposition to the backdrop of Israel’s genocidal Gaza battle, which has killed over 39,300 Palestinians because the Oct. 7 Hamas incursion.
