The European Commission has fined Meta, the proprietor of Facebook and Instagram, €797 million for violating the EU’s antitrust guidelines.

According to the Commission’s assertion, Meta was penalized for integrating Facebook Marketplace into its private social community, Facebook, and imposing unfair commerce situations on different on-line categorized companies, violating EU antitrust legal guidelines.

The investigation revealed that Meta abused its dominant place in internet marketing inside the European Economic Area. The integration of Facebook Marketplace into Facebook led to computerized entry for all Facebook customers, exposing them to Marketplace recurrently, which created unfair commerce situations for different on-line categorized service suppliers.

The choice mandates Meta to stop these practices instantly and chorus from repeating related violations sooner or later.
