European Union international ministers on Monday agreed new sanctions on Russia in response to the demise of opposition politician Alexei Navalny, EU diplomats inform dpa.
The sanctions concern folks from the Russian judicial system, officers say. More particulars are anticipated to be introduced within the coming days.
The transfer follows the choreographed re-election of Russian president Vladimir Putin over the weekend. The election was overshadowed by Navalny’s demise in a Siberian jail camp in February.
“Russia was an election without a choice,” German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock advised reporters forward of the international ministers’ assembly in Brussels.
