Lithuania‘s international minister Gabrielius Landsbergis mentioned on Monday the EU must “at least sharpen” sanctions towards Russia after Alexei Navalny‘s demise, whereas “half-measures” usually are not sufficient to cease Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“If Ukraine falls, everybody is very clear to understand: we will be next. Putin has no intention to stop, he wouldn’t be able to stop,” Landsbergis mentioned forward of a gathering of EU international ministers in Brussels, the place they are going to be joined by the widow of Navalny.

Navalny, Putin’s most formidable home opponent, died on Friday on the “Polar Wolf” Arctic penal colony the place he was serving a three-decade sentence.
