The Hungarian authorities on Wednesday mentioned that the pager units that exploded in Lebanon “have never been in Hungary.”
The remarks from authorities spokesperson Zoltan Kovacs got here after a Taiwanese agency Gold Apollo denied making the pager units that exploded and mentioned that these had been manufactured and offered by a Hungarian firm, BAC Consulting KFT, primarily based in Budapest – which had a license to make use of Gold Apollo’s model on the pagers.
“Authorities have confirmed that the company in question is a trading intermediary, with no manufacturing or operational site in Hungary,” Kovacs mentioned.
“It has one manager registered at its declared address, and the referenced devices have never been in Hungary,” he mentioned.
“During further investigations, Hungarian national security services are cooperating with all relevant international partner agencies and organizations,” the spokesperson added. He mentioned that the case poses no nationwide safety danger to Hungary.
