On Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi plans to carry oblique talks with US particular envoy Steve Witkoff within the Gulf state of Oman.

The talks are a primary signal of recent momentum to resolve the long-running dispute over Iran’s nuclear programme.

Araghchi instructed news company ISNA that he needed the talks to focus solely on “ensuring the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme in return for the lifting of unjust sanctions.”
