Rights group Amnesty International has accused Israel of finishing up a “live-streamed genocide” in Gaza by intentionally engineering a humanitarian catastrophe and forcibly displacing the overwhelming majority of the enclave’s inhabitants.
In its annual report launched Tuesday, Amnesty charged that Israel had acted with “specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza, thus committing genocide.”
Israel has rejected accusations of “genocide” from Amnesty, different rights teams and a few states in its battle on Gaza.
The battle was triggered by Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas incursion, which induced round 1,218 deaths and took 251 hostages, in line with Israeli figures.

“Israel’s system of apartheid became increasingly violent in the occupied West Bank, marked by a sharp increase in unlawful killings and state-backed attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian civilians,” it stated.
Heba Morayef, Amnesty director for the Middle East and North Africa area, denounced “the extreme levels of suffering that Palestinians in Gaza have been forced to endure on a daily basis over the past year” in addition to “the world’s complete inability or lack of political will to put a stop to it.”
