The prime United Nations courtroom Friday ordered Israel to halt army operations in Rafah, a landmark ruling more likely to improve mounting worldwide strain on Israel greater than seven months into the Gaza conflict.

Israel should “immediately halt its military offensive, and any other action in the Rafah Governorate, which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part,” the International Court of Justice stated.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE ICJ’S STATEMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:


– Israel has triggered the deaths of numerous individuals in Gaza.

– As of May 18, based on UN knowledge, 800,000 civilians have been displaced in Rafah attributable to Israel’s assaults.

– The scenario in Rafah is now being described as a humanitarian catastrophe.

– Israel has been bombing Rafah for weeks, and the infrastructure is on the breaking point. Israel should fulfill its obligations. The measures it has taken are insufficient.

“ISRAEL MUST IMMEDIATELY CEASE ITS ATTACKS”


The courtroom has determined that there must be a change within the resolution concerning interim measures made on March 28. Therefore, it has been determined that new interim measures are wanted.

– Israel should instantly stop assaults that may hurt civilians.

– Israel should take efficient measures to protect proof underneath the Genocide Prevention Convention and should not hinder the entry of any investigation staff into the Gaza Strip.

– Israel should submit a report back to the International Court of Justice inside one month.

– Israel should maintain the Rafah border crossing open to make sure the unhindered provision of urgently wanted providers and humanitarian support in Gaza.
