Defence Minister Yoav Gallant mentioned on Thursday that Israel would combat Hezbollah “with all its might” if the Lebanese armed group continued its “aggression” throughout the border.
“We will not allow the Hezbollah militia to destabilise the border and the region. If Hezbollah continues its aggression, Israel will fight it, with all its might,” Gallant mentioned in a message addressed to the folks of Lebanon, based on an announcement from his workplace.
Hezbollah has traded near-daily fireplace with Israeli forces in assist of ally Hamas because the Palestinian resistance group’s October 7 assault on Israel triggered conflict in Gaza.
Fears of all-out conflict have mounted after Israel killed Hezbollah’s high army commander Fuad Shukr in an air strike in a Beirut suburb final week.
Reminding the folks of Lebanon of the 2006 conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, Gallant warned Lebanon to “learn the lesson of the past so as not to fall into a dangerous scenario in August 2024”.
The devastating 34-day conflict in July-August 2006 killed greater than 1,200 folks in Lebanon, largely civilians, and a few 160 Israelis, largely troopers.
