Pakistan has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) assembly to be held within the capital Islamabad in October, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated on Thursday.

The SCO heads of presidency assembly is slated to be held on Oct. 15 -16.

It might be preceded by a ministerial assembly and several other rounds of senior officers’ conferences targeted on monetary, financial, socio-cultural, and humanitarian cooperation among the many SCO member states, she added.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson, informed a news briefing that an invite has been despatched to Modi, recalling that former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited India to attend the assembly of the SCO Foreign Ministers in May final 12 months.

He was the primary Pakistani overseas minister to go to India in virtually 12 years.

Already heightened tensions between the 2 international locations touched an extra low after India stripped the longstanding semi-autonomous standing of the valley in August 2019, prompting Islamabad to downgrade diplomatic relations with New Delhi and droop bilateral commerce.

Locked in a string of disputes, primarily the lingering Kashmir concern, the 2 international locations have fought three full-fledged wars since 1947.
