Palestine welcomed an announcement by some European Union international locations to acknowledge the sovereignty of a Palestinian state.
The leaders of Spain, Ireland, Slovenia and Malta stated Friday that they stand prepared to acknowledge a Palestinian state because the “solely approach to obtain peace and safety” within the war-ridden area.
In a joint assertion issued on the sidelines of a summit in Brussels to debate their “readiness to recognize Palestine,” the 4 leaders stated they stand prepared to take action “when it can make a positive contribution and the circumstances are right.”
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry termed the joint assertion by the 4 European international locations as a “step in the proper course.”
