This week, a gaggle of 20 Palestinians submitted a prison grievance to the Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office, accusing Israel of obstructing and influencing the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) investigation into the alleged genocide in Gaza.

The grievance follows the discharge of a complete investigation in May, performed collaboratively by The Guardian, +972 Magazine and Local Call.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), the group’s lawyer, Barbara van Straaten, famous that the grievance is predicated on Article 70 of the Rome Statute and Dutch prison legislation.

“All states that are party to the Rome Statute are required to include crimes committed against the administration of justice in their national laws. The Netherlands has done this. Since the ICC and therefore the prosecutor’s office are located on Dutch territory, and the crime of obstruction of justice occurred on Dutch territory, Dutch courts will have jurisdiction,” she mentioned.

Straaten’s workplace, in a separate assertion, underlined that media studies revealed “how Israeli leaders and security forces engaged in an almost decade-long campaign against the prosecutor’s office of the ICC to prevent it from carrying out an effective criminal investigation.”

Israeli officers tried to undermine the ICC prosecutor’s integrity by providing former prosecutor Fatou Bensouda hid bribes and establishing a smear marketing campaign in opposition to her husband to strain her into dropping the investigation.

Israeli safety forces additionally performed a widespread surveillance operation geared toward gathering data on the continued investigation, together with monitoring telecommunications.
