Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday signed a treaty on the nation’s strategic partnership with North Korea which features a mutual defence provision, enacting it into legislation.
The accord, introduced by Putin and North Korean chief Kim Jong Un in June after a summit in Pyongyang, calls on either side to come back to the opposite’s support in case of an armed assault.
The decree making the partnership legislation appeared on a official web site outlining legislative procedures. The treaty was ratified by Russia’s parliament.
