Russia claims control of village of Novoukrainka in Ukraine’s Donetsk region

Russia on Sunday claimed that its forces had captured one other settlement in Ukraine’s jap Donetsk area as a part of its ongoing offensive.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated its troops took management of the village of Novoukrainka, positioned about 21 kilometers (13 miles) north of the strategic city of Velyka Novosilka.

Russia beforehand claimed to have seized Velyka Novosilka on Jan. 27. The city lies close to the junction of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk areas.

Novoukrainka is located lower than a km (0.6 mi) from the executive border between the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk areas.

Ukrainian authorities haven’t commented on the most recent claims, which couldn’t be independently verified as a result of ongoing battle, now in its fourth 12 months.
