Russia jails man for allegedly handing soldiers info to FBI

Russia has sentenced a person to 19 years in jail for allegedly sending details about Russian troopers to the United States’ FBI, Russia’s FSB safety service mentioned Saturday.

The unidentified man, who was born in 1993, was discovered responsible of “high treason” and different expenses, the FSB mentioned in an announcement.

The FSB accused the person, from town of Orenburg, of “passing information on the identity and other personal data of Russian servicemen to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).”

He was first arrested in January 2023.

The FSB mentioned Saturday a regional court docket in Orenburg, in central Russia, sentenced him to 19 years in a strict penal colony.

Russian courts have ordered a number of heavy jail phrases for treason, terrorism and sabotage because the begin of the army offensive — accusing folks of working for Ukraine or with Western governments to undermine Russia’s marketing campaign.
