Russia says it seized explosives sent from Ukraine via EU

Russia‘s FSB safety service stated Tuesday it had seized dozens of kilos of explosives despatched from Ukraine hid in Orthodox Christian spiritual icons that transited by way of the European Union.

The seizure adopted an inspection of cargo within the northwestern Pskov area close to the Latvian border, the FSB stated in a press release.

It stated this was “part of the cross-border traffic of explosives from Ukraine through the European Union”, including that the cargo had handed by way of Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.

The seized cargo comprised 70 kilos (154 kilos) of home-made explosives and explosive units “hidden in icons and ready for use”.

One particular person was arrested, it stated, including that it will search to trace down all these concerned, together with foreigners, who would then face authorized proceedings in Russia.
