Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned late on Tuesday that he’ll contemplate China for his first abroad journey throughout his new presidential time period that he secured in weekend election.
On Tuesday, Reuters solely reported that Putin will journey to China in May for talks with Xi Jinping, in what may very well be the Kremlin chief’s first abroad journey of his new presidential time period.
Russia’s TASS state news company reported that at a gathering with parliamentary factions on Tuesday the chief of the Communist Party, Gennady Zyuganov, requested Putin to decide on Beijing for the journey.
“I hope that your first visit will be to the East, and not to the West. Comrade (Chinese President) Xi Jinping is waiting for you to visit, he loves our country very much,” TASS cited Zyuganov as saying.
Putin promised to think about the journey.
“I will definitely – without any jokes – take into account what you just said,” Putin responded with a smile, in response to TASS.
Western governments lined up on Monday to sentence Putin’s landslide weekend election victory as unfair and undemocratic, however China and North Korea congratulated the veteran Russian chief on extending his rule by an additional six years.
